We've had 2 drop-outs from our room-split at FenCon: trolling for replacements [Sep. 19th, 2011|07:40 pm]

At present we are down to 6 people divided between 2 rooms, so we've got two mattress-halves available to sublet. They could even be on the same mattress, if you prefer it that way.

2011 Video Room Suggestions [Feb. 7th, 2011|06:42 pm]
FenCon: A Dallas-based SF/Fantasy Convention

his_spiffyness
Hey everyone, this Jay Epps, I'm in charge of Fencon's video room and I'm looking for ideas for what to show this year. I've already gotten a
few suggestions from the staff, but I would like to hear as many suggestions as possible.

  • half hour or hour long shows are more likely to find a slot than
feature length movies. During the day, we want to give the attendees
something to fill up that hour in between panels. The feature length
movies we will screen are probably going to be shown either at the
beginning or end of the day.

  • we also have to keep it family friendly. So nothing above PG 13
during the day, and nothing above an R rating in the evening
    programing.

  • we want things that have some relevance to science fiction, fantasy,
horror, or geek culture in general.

  • I must admit a favoritism towards older TV shows, especially stuff
that most people probably haven't seen since it's original air dates

  • fan films, web originals, and other independent media are high on
    the consideration list.

The big thing is we want something different and unique in the video
room, not just what you can find at the Redbox or on reruns on Sci-Fi
Channel. If you have anything you want to throw out, feel free. I'm looking for
as many ideas as possible. I'd really love to see at least one or two
suggestions from everyone.

FenCon VI will feature the first ArtCraftTech Meetup on Friday (Sept. 18) at 9 pm. Do you sew, bead, work on robots, knit, build your own computers, paint, etc.? Whether you are an expert, amateur or beginner, bring a current or completed project and network with other artists, crafters, and techs. Even if you don't do anything at the moment, but are curious about what your fellow attendees do and/or interested in pursuing a new skill, come on by! If you are on Twitter, be sure to use the #fenconcraft hashtag to help you connect with others before the event.

If you don't Tweet, you can let us know here! More information on this event and demos at http://www.fencon.org/demos.html
