The Lollee and Ziactrice Home for Wayward Books at Fencon [Sep. 29th, 2008|03:57 pm]
FenCon: A Dallas-based SF/Fantasy Convention

As I've already told selenite , Lollee and I will be opening our hotel room to the sheltering and hopeful placement of any and all wayward books. I will post up some sort of message/sign to announce which room we are assigned, whereupon anyone may feel free to drop off and pick up books whenever: 1) the door is propped open, 2) you can ambush either of us and get agreement to open said door for the dumping of unwanted or the loading of newly adopted books, or 3) after-hours during the regular party-room-hopping trail.

If there is a Great Deal of response, I may ask about getting a room on the Desginated Party Floor / Area, but since this is books, I don't expect there will arise a great amount of Unwanted Noise Issues. We also do not wish to be competitive with any actual book-dealers who are paying to vend, so we'll try to keep it after-hours and definitely without renumeration or quibbling of exchange rates going on. If you have different ideas for how to exchange your books other than potluck, blind drop off and pick up, you're welcome to do your own sort of exchange. This will be solely leave as you want, grab as you like, and try to be fair (only take a few more than you leave - if you want to clean us out, show up Sunday just before room-closing, etc.) basis. This is mainly just to help those of us who are book-aholics de-clutter a bit, or perhaps just circulate the stale ones for something new.

However, in the interests of full ulterior motives disclosure, both Lollee and I secretly hope that said literary bribery, er,  hospitality might result in a few donations of the more comestible sorts circulating to our room in the hands of eagerly anticipated and hoped-for guests and visitors, which would make for an entirely enjoyable evening given that neither one of us perambulate so well after a long day of convention-treading. I wouldn't put it past us to have a pot of Far Better than Usual Coffee made, and cookies or other snacks about.

Homeless Books [Sep. 29th, 2008|09:39 am]
FenCon: A Dallas-based SF/Fantasy Convention

[mood |curiouscurious]

We're having a purge of our library and clearing out the books we don't expect to read again. Now we've got several boxes of SF paperbacks looking for a new home. Would anybody want us to bring them to Fencon?
